- In this bath remodel, we removed a whirlpool tub and built a gorgeous oversized shower. We removed a leaking shower and replaced it with a linen open storage unit. We built a 6” void on exterior wall for the shower plumbing to prevent freezing and built a half wall on right-hand side for a floating marble-slab corner seat. We tiled shower walls to ceiling with a 12” x 24” offset pattern; one 4” pebbled feature strip to match the shower floor. One recessed niche with a marble slab shelf for storage. We tiled the shower floor with pebbles and sealed with an enhancer to keep a wet look. We capped the shower curb and half wall with a marble slab to match the corner seat and shelf in niche. All grout was Power Grout with a sealant in it so it is mold, mildew and stain resistant. We installed a heavy frameless hinged, clear glass shower door with panels and silver trim. We installed a Delta stacked shower valve and trim with a transfer valve on it for a rain shower head and a hand held on a hook in a custom location. Reused tile from tub area and installed in the new finished alcove where the shower was. We hung all new sheets of drywall where the alcove is and installed wood-primed baseboard with quarter round. The vanity remained but we installed a new double-sink quartz counter top with white undermount sinks, two Delta Lahara 4” spread faucets in chrome, and a beveled-edge mirror We replaced the exhaust fan and reworked the outlets in the vanity area and applied 2 coats of Premium Benjamin Moore paint on the walls, ceiling and trim.
